Generally called “high-shear mixers”, they are the most communal form of Dispersing/Homogenising/ Emulsifying mixer. By inserting a form of closely-fitting shroud around a high-speed impeller, it is possible to generate a shearing action between the blades and stator shroud. As the material is centrifugally pumped through the blending head, some of it will see this high shear zone and experience shear stressing that outcomes in dispersive mixing. Where minor or uniform dispersions are required, the material must be cycled through the head many times to confirm statistically that all of the material has passed through the high shear zone at least once.


Due to the native design concept and the rotor operating at an exceptionally high speed with close clearance to the stator, it draws in the material and imparts mechanical and shearing actions. An inline emulsifier is effectively used for the following processes


Certain processes mandate a higher degree of homogenization, dispersion, and comminution & but to attain that level, a single passage of material through Inline is not enough to reach that degree, in that situation, it is more useful to pass the product numerous times through the same machine using recirculation. The above process is usually adopted in producing an emulsion of Oil and water. Oil, which is lighter than water, is charged in the holding vessel & water is added to the pipeline between the vessel outlet valve & Inlet of the Inline Emulsifier. This mix is instantly lapped into the head of the emulsifier & there mixing/ emulsification/ homogenization takes place. This blend is then sent into the vessel. This process is repeated till the success of perfect emulsion. Where viscosity is exactly high or vessel size is large, it is recommended to go for the Batch type of blender along with an Inline Mixer.


In this process, all components are mixed in a holding vessel with some agitator & a single passage through the inline smoothens the bumps and homogenizes a suspension or emulsion.
